Are you getting confused with all the information that you are being told to do with getting prepared for a disaster?
Let's take a look and see what we can do to make it easy and simple for you.
The world has always gone through natural and manmade disaster. Now as never before is the right time to talk about what measures you have planned if disasters happen to your family. What is your Family Safety Plan (Evacuation Plan)? These are some serious questions that need to be addressed now. You should have a disaster safety plan ready and be able to assist others to formulate theirs.
The fact of the matter is we cannot stop natural calamities, but we can take steps that will assist during disasters, like proper planning, communication, preparedness and quick response action, which can save lives.
On the 12th January, 2011 we ran our first "303 Plan Day". The day was to bring all the family together under one roof, to provide them with complete information on how to use Your Family Safety Plan. So that every individual will know what to do in case of disaster! The 303 Plan is a schedule which takes place on the 2nd Wednesday of January, April, July, and October of every year, and it means spending 30 minutes, every 3 months with your family. The main reason for this is to prepare both organizations, and families to help themselves in the initial 24 hours after a disaster takes place. For us your disaster safety plan and your disaster family safety plan is of a paramount importance.
Having a Safety plan (Evacuation Plan) in the FIRST 24Hrs is very important, as at the time of a disaster this can mean the difference between life and death.
So what is the 303 Plan?
The 303 Plan is designed to prompt you into bringing your family together and while your family is together, taking a look at your safety in the home.
The 303 Plan addresses important questions like:
What would you do in case of a disaster?
Where would you take your family?
Where could you go that was safe from fires, tsunamis, or earthquakes?
How could you get there?
What would you take with you?
The family emergency plan answers all these questions. The families become part of The 303 Plan where we provide them "easy to understand exercises" by making it a fun family activity.
Due to the repetition of the family emergency plan it becomes an automatic response and this makes it all the more effective. The more families participating in The 303 Plan the more effective it will be and the more people will hear about it.
Another benefit is assisting to reduce non-emergency pressures on local resident first responder services as families with the 303 plans are trained to be self-sufficient for basic needs during most major disasters, as calls to emergency services are likely to go unanswered.
Your safety is important to you and to us.
